In order to financially support medical workers and further motivate them to increase the rate of vaccination against COVID‑19, the Russian Government has introduced special incentive payments for additional workload for medical workers. The established mechanism of financial support and the procedure for making payments is quite complex, since it is aimed at achieving specific practical vaccination indicators. This publication explains some of the issues that arise in connection with the implementation of these payments.

The main causes of the sickness rate have been determined. According to judgment of public health organizers, experts of therapeutic and surgical profiles obtained during medico-sociological investigation the factor of psycho-emotional stress at work has the most negative effect upon their health status.

The article analyzes the prospects and possible options for the development of continuous medical education (CME) in Russia. Currently, the most realistic and preferable option is the development of CME based on improving the quality and increasing the volume of implementation of additional professional medical education programs. It is noted that one of the most important factors of national security is the constant maintenance of a high professional level of medical workers, which can be ensured within the framework of the CME, first of all, by implementing additional professional programs of appropriate quality and the necessary volumes.
